Justified Verses Sanctified Peace

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.  Ephesians 4:14 ESV

We can only find peace in Jesus.

There are two types of peace – justified peace and sanctified peace. Justified peace happens when you accept Jesus as Savior. Sin is forgiven and the dividing wall between you and God collapses.

I’ve witnessed hundreds of new believers stream tears while praying to receive Jesus.

God’s forgiveness of you and others upon confession is absolute. What freedom to know that if you confess it, God will forgive it.

That’s justified peace!

The other type of peace is sanctified peace. Sanctification means “lived out.” Many believers don’t experience this peace. Justified peace looks to Jesus for the instant peace of restoration while sanctified peace lives with Jesus daily.

Paul writes:

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me – practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.  Philippians 4:9

Practice what the scriptures teach, and you will have peace. That’s sanctified peace!

Don’t and you won’t.

A mentor told me over thirty years ago, “Justification is like the marriage ceremony as you become instantly one in taking vows; but sanctification is more like the 25th wedding anniversary, still keeping those vows to become one.”

Justified and sanctified peace! Do you have them both?

They are received through Jesus as both Savior and Lord. Everyone loves Savior Jesus; it’s the Lord Jesus that gives pause.

Thanks for forgiveness, Jesus, now off I go to live as I please.

Today’s Interruption isn’t complicated. Jesus is both Savior and Lord. There is justified and sanctified peace – a peace of reconciliation and one of lifestyle.

You can have them both.

Ask yourself, “Do I have peace? The supernatural peace that shouldn’t be in a place of trials – but it’s there? I’m at peace.”

Prophetically, I want to speak this into your life. God will bring peace to your current situation. Ask for peace, listen for His instruction, obey, and find peace. The “Lordship” of Jesus is a lot of fun.
