Eight Promises from Romans 8

There are about 3000 promises in the entire Bible, and 20 are found in Romans 8. We should read this chapter often.

Below I list the promises that have impacted me most from Romans 8.

I didn’t list all 20 promises because I don’t have room in this blog, and the title “Twenty Promises from Romans 8” isn’t as catchy as “Eight Promises from Romans 8.”

The eight promises:

#1 ~ No condemnation

There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus (v. 1, NLT).

This is the most important promise in the entire Bible. Our past is forgiven! Amen.

#2 ~ Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord (v. 39).

The first verse of Romans 8, with “no condemnation,” leads to the resultant promise in the last verse: “nothing separates us from the love of God.”

#3 ~ Freed from the power of sin

The power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death (v. 2).

Sin is pleasure for a moment but a possible lifetime of consequences. We have felt the consequences; now, let’s believe that the life-giving Spirit can set us free.

#4 ~ We are adopted children of God our Father.

You received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father” (v. 15).

A child has a much better inheritance than a servant. Are we walking with Jesus as children and heirs of His Kingdom or as servants?

#5 ~ We are led by the Spirit.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God (v. 14).

Fullness in Christ means walking in His will. Fortunately, the Lord leads us daily. We need to learn to follow the Spirit.

#6 ~ Both the Spirit and Jesus are praying for us right now.

The Spirit prays for us… (v. 26), and also, Jesus who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us (v. 34, ESV).

We can be confident that history’s greatest prayer warriors—Jesus and the Spirit—are interceding for us right now!

#7 ~ All things are working for our good.

God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them (v. 28, NLT).

When we walk in God’s purposes, all things—all things—are working for our good. Let’s believe this, not because of our circumstances or feelings, but because it’s God’s Word!

#8 ~ Nothing coming against us can ultimately win.

If God is for us, who can ever be against us? (v. 31).

This is my favorite promise in Romans 8. Whenever I feel defeated, I know that I have success in Jesus.

Those are my favorite “Eight Promises from Romans 8.” I memorized Romans 8 decades ago and consider it one of the most important chapters in the entire Bible for victorious living.
