A Google AI Search Leads to…

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

To Him be glory forever (Romans 11:36b, ESV).

Artificial Intelligence (AI) “searches” on the internet dive deeply.

Decades ago, when I researched a topic, I pulled a relevant book off my shelf, browsed its pages to find the needed information, and then typed the quote, often needing to purchase a new book for even more relevant information.

Continuing this pattern for years, I accumulated over 2,000 books in my library.

My almost-obsessive information-gathering habits didn’t stop with books; my many filing cabinets were filled with files organized by topic. When I saw something that was “real paper,” interesting, I would file it accordingly, and when researching, I would dig into my filing cabinets for bits and pieces of information and illustrations.

Hours spent on one topic.

Today, I wanted to write about developing a Biblical mindset. I typed the topic into my Google AI. No books, no “filing cabinet” diving, just a simple search, and a few seconds later, I had a 500-word synopsis of books and articles about a Biblical mindset.

The BOTS (creepy crawling internet algorithms that read everything on the internet) were able to digest thousands, if not millions, of books and files. But as I read this summary, I had an eerie feeling that I was familiar with the material, sort of a déjà vu. So, I looked at the side panel where the AI BOTS list their source material. And what did I see?

Me! That’s right, moi.

I saw an Interruption titled “The Seven Points of a Biblical Mindset.” OG is now a favored author of the AI BOTS. I repent of calling them “creeping, crawling” and currently believe they are wise and spiritually mature.

HHHHMMMHHM. My newfound fame deserves a double HHHHMMMHHM!

My first reaction was, “Well, if the BOTS are reading Interruptions, why aren’t you?” But you are reading Interruptions, so my next thought was how to train the AI BOTS, so that no matter what search any person in the entire world makes from this time forward, information from an Interruption will appear.

Let’s imagine the possibilities — Vladimir Putin hits the search bar about Ukraine, and he gets my Interruption on Repentance. Or you search for prayer, Bible reading, where to go on vacation, anger management, miracles, angels, depression, joy, what to do when your spouse gets mad at you — and with 900,000 words in 1783 Interruptions, there’s something for any topic.

Perhaps you ought to fear Pastor Grant, turned loose with AI, than AI itself!

But since the readers of this blog are stuck with the OG on AI, what can be expected, and what prayers should be prayed? Let’s ask my Google AI Assistant. And the answer…

Readers of Grant Edwards’ blog, Interruptions, can expect a consistent flow of brief, faith-based insights designed to be read in about five minutes. Based on current and recurring themes, future posts will likely include:

Daily Spiritual Disciplines: Short reflections (typically around 500 words) focusing on grace, following Jesus, and maintaining peace in difficult times.

Bible Studies & Recap Series: Continued “Psalms on Saturday” features and weekly recaps of previous “Interruptions.”

Contemporary Faith Challenges: Commentary on current cultural doubts, “end-times” observations (including topics like global instability and economic shifts), and critiques of hypocrisy within the Christian community.

Book Recommendations: Edwards occasionally shares reading lists and has expressed intent to feature a future “Interruption” dedicated to his readers’ favorite books.

Personal Leadership Lessons: Insights drawn from his 49+ years of ministry experience, family life, and his “Old Guy” (OG) perspective as a grandparent.

I could have said it better, but it would have taken more time.
