OG Note: My eschatology is pre-tribulation, pre-millennial — which means I believe in a 1,000-year millennial reign of Christ on earth, a seven-year period of tribulation before the millennium, and the rapture before this tribulation.
I love everyone who disagrees with me, and I firmly believe we’ll all be surprised by some end-time events we either ignored, misunderstood, or dismissed as “you will know it when you see it” events. In my eschatological viewpoint, chapters six through 18 of Revelation describe the seven-year tribulation.
Find a written timeline below of the Book of Revelation that I’ve developed, followed by an illustration of it. Read this through and see if it makes sense. Better yet, spend the next week reading and comparing the Book of Revelation to what’s below.

Written timeline:
1. The Church Age (Revelation 2–3)
- Current Era: This period spans from Pentecost to the Rapture.
- The Seven Churches: The letters to the seven churches in Asia Minor are viewed both as historical congregations and as representing the successive phases of church history leading up to the end times.
2. The Rapture of the Church (Revelation 4:1)
- The Trigger Event: Christ descends in the clouds to “catch up” (rapture) all living and deceased believers to heaven.
- Shift in Focus: In Revelation 4:1, John hears a voice saying, “Come up here.” Pre-tribulation scholars view this as a typological representation of the Rapture. The word “church” (ekklesia) appears 19 times in chapters 1–3 but is entirely absent from the earth in chapters 6–18.
- Heavenly Events: While the earth undergoes the Tribulation, the raptured Church experiences the Judgment Seat of Christ (rewards) and the Marriage of the Lamb in heaven.
3. The Seven-Year Tribulation (Revelation 6–18)
Often referred to as “Daniel’s 70th Week” or the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble,” this is a seven-year period of unparalleled global catastrophe.
The First Half (3.5 years):
- The Seal Judgments (Rev. 6): Christ opens a scroll with seven seals. The first four are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse — the arrival of the Antichrist (white horse), war, famine, and death.
- The 144,000 (Rev. 7): God seals 144,000 ethnic Jewish evangelists who preach the gospel globally after the church is gone.
- The Trumpet Judgments (Rev. 8–9): Severe ecological and demonic judgments, including a third of the earth burning, the oceans turning to blood, and demonic locusts tormenting humanity.
The Midpoint:
- The Abomination of Desolation (Rev. 11–13): The Antichrist breaks a peace treaty with Israel, desecrates the rebuilt Jewish temple in Jerusalem, and demands global worship.
- The Two Witnesses (Rev. 11): Two prophets who preach in Jerusalem for 3.5 years are killed by the Antichrist, resurrected after three and a half days, and ascend to heaven.
- The Mark of the Beast (Rev. 13): The False Prophet enforces an economic system where no one can buy or sell without a mark on their right hand or forehead.
The Second Half (The Great Tribulation, 3.5 years):
- The Bowl Judgments (Rev. 16): The final, most severe series of plagues poured directly onto the earth, targeting the Antichrist’s kingdom and culminating in the gathering of the world’s armies.
- The Fall of Babylon (Rev. 17–18): The destruction of the unified global religious and economic system that dominated the Tribulation.
4. The Second Coming of Christ (Revelation 19)
- The Return: Christ physically returns to earth on a white horse, accompanied by the armies of heaven (the raptured Church and angels).
- Battle of Armageddon: Christ utterly destroys the gathered armies of the Antichrist with merely a word.
- The Beast Defeated: The Antichrist and the False Prophet are captured and thrown alive directly into the Lake of Fire.
5. The Millennial Kingdom (Revelation 20:1–6)
- Satan Bound: An angel binds Satan and locks him in the Abyss for 1,000 years so he cannot deceive the nations.
- Christ’s Reign: Jesus establishes a literal, physical kingdom on earth, ruling from Jerusalem with perfect justice and peace.
- Resurrection of Tribulation Saints: Saints who lived before the rapture and believers martyred during the 7-year Tribulation are resurrected to reign with Christ during this period.
6. Final Rebellion and Judgment (Revelation 20:7–15)
- Satan’s Final Defeat: At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan is temporarily released. He deceives a final rebellion among the earthly population but is immediately destroyed by fire from heaven and cast into the Lake of Fire forever.
- The Great White Throne Judgment: The final judgment of all unbelievers throughout history. The dead are judged according to their deeds, and anyone whose name is not found in the Book of Life is cast into the Lake of Fire (the “second death”).
7. The Eternal State (Revelation 21–22)
- A New Creation: The current cursed heaven and earth pass away. God creates a perfect New Heaven and New Earth.
- The New Jerusalem: A massive, radiant, golden city descends from heaven to the new earth.
- Eternity: God dwells directly with humanity. There is no more death, mourning, crying, or pain, and the redeemed reign with Him forever.
