Fanciful and Farcical Evolution

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:21, ESV).

I was stunned (I’m being very facetious in this Interruption) when I read this headline:

Fossilized Ear Bones Rewrite the History of Freshwater Fish

“Wow,” I thought, “Just the news I’ve been waiting to hear.” So, while practicing the box breathing technique, to keep myself calm, I continued reading …

When saltwater fish long ago evolved to live in fresh water, many of them also evolved a more sophisticated hearing system, including middle ear bones similar to those in humans.

That’s nice to know. But the news continues …

Two-thirds of all freshwater fish today—including more than 10,000 species, from catfish to popular aquarium fish like tetras and zebrafish—have this middle ear system, called the Weberian apparatus, which allows them to hear sounds at much higher frequencies than most ocean fish can, with a range close to that of humans.

Freshwater fish can hear better than saltwater sharks. It’s nice to know that sharks can smell us, but not hear our conversations before they attack.

Fish with a Weberian ear system … were thought to have moved into freshwater approximately 180 million years ago. They now appear to have arisen much later—about 154 million years ago.

What?! Original estimates were off by 26 million years? What nincompoops!

This finding reshapes our understanding of the evolutionary history and intricate biogeography of the world’s most successful group of freshwater fish.

We can rest easily tonight with a better understanding of the origin of our goldfish!

Why these fish need to hear high frequencies is a mystery!

Obviously so that bass fish, avoiding the lures, can huddle under a fisherperson’s boat to listen to their country music and party.

Amazingly, we now know that 154 million years ago, not 180 million years ago, saltwater fish began invading freshwater. According to the rules of evolution, a new inner ear was needed. While nobody knows the reason why, we now have more evidence for the processes of evolution.

We should all forsake our Creator God and become atheistic evolutionists.

However, there are more fanciful and farcical explanations by scientists: how the universe and time were created from nothing, how life originated from inanimate matter, and how self-awareness evolved from this inanimate to animate matter. And with this big stuff under their scientific belts, the little stuff — proving that  tadpoles learned to walk on land, humans evolving from apes, and explaining how the Weberian ear system developed were all a piece of cake.

All it takes is foolishness plus 154 million (not 180 million) years and boom — my wife’s cat exists. And whereas I agree that this is a perfectly acceptable explanation for my wife’s cat …

It’s stupid for everything else.
