Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward (Colossians 3:23-24, ESV). Does it seem discordant that we serve the Lord for a reward? Yet the Greek word for “reward” is used at least 50 times in the New Testament.
