Are You Praying for President Trump?

The Apostle Paul encourages, “Pray this for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” (1 Timothy 2:2)

Politics are controversial today. Among Christians we unite with Jesus but rarely on Donald Trump or any other president of the United States.

There aren’t many instructions on how to engage in politics in the New Testament but praying is very clear.

My personal belief is that we don’t have a foundation for debating politics as a Christian unless we first follow Paul’s exhortation to pray for our leaders. Let’s always pray before we discuss or debate politics.

My main prayer request for President Trump since he was elected is that he would be surrounded by godly counselors.  I pray this for President Trump and I prayed this for President Barack Obama.

As I watch President Trump during his live updates each evening, I notice that a considerable number of those who profess faith in God are standing next to him.

A recent headline of a leading newspaper asked if evangelical Christians were taking over the health care policies of our nation’s response to the Coronavirus.

Let’s continue to pray for our president that he would receive godly counsel.  I know that godly counsel can come from those who do not profess faith in Jesus.

My prayers …

  • Godly counsel
  • President Trump would have good health and listen to Godly counsel
  • That policies made would encourage the church and Christians
  • That God would use this to unify churches and bring revival
  • For wisdom to enact policies that would help widows, orphans, and the brokenhearted.

Please pray with me.

Grant, I am so glad that you and other strong Christians are continuing to minister in Springfield. I left in 1978 but have kept in touch with a number of people there. My prayers for Springfield have been for breakthrough. Thanks for your article. Lorraine Adrian Mahan, Austin TX
